“Project Management: The Great Juggling Act”
Thursday, October 23 @ Confederation Place Hotel (237 Ontario St., Kingston, ON, K7L 2Z4)

A successful independent entrepreneur has to wear many hats while traversing the business of music, and often at the same time. It’s a demanding, fast-paced industry loaded with curveballs. Learn how the pros manage their time, prioritize and execute tasks, and how artists can optimize their working relationships with them. This panel is presented with Work In Culture.

We welcome and encourage people in the communities in and around Kingston to RSVP to emy@cimamusic.ca for as many parts of this session as they are able to fit into their schedules! Full schedule below.

SESSION ONE - Workshop
10:00am - 1:00pm • Salon A
cost: $15*

Led by a seasoned project manager from the cultural sector, this workshop includes an introduction to the discipline of Project Management, including full group and small group discussions and a live demonstration of how to use key project management tools. This workshop is linked to the Kingston Arts Council’s When Art Meets Business initiative (funded by the Government of Ontario), identifying ways to support artists in the business of art.

Topics Include:
• Who leads arts projects, and what is their role?
• How to keep everyone on track
• Balancing time, tasks, and money
• What makes a good project leader?
• Overcoming challenges

This is an ideal workshop for those intending to apply for the next round of the City of Kingston Arts Fund (CKAF) grants.
