The Honourable Michael Coteau, MPP Don Valley East, is Ontario’s new Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, and responsible for the Pan/Parapan Am Games.  His appointment was announced yesterday by Premier Kathleen Wynne.  He succeeds the Honourable Michael Chan, who has moved to become Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade.

First elected as an MPP in 2011, Mr. Coteau quickly became Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Tourism and Culture, a position which provided him an opportunity to meet cultural sector stakeholders.  In 2013, he was appointed Minister of Citizenship and Immigration.

Well-liked within government, the new Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport has a background in education and adult literacy.  He was a Toronto District School Board trustee, winning election for three terms.  Minister Coteau was also a community organizer in the Malvern area of Toronto.

We look forward to working with Minister Coteau on issues important to MusicOntario's members, as we progress through the Ontario Music Fund!
