4pm-8pm
FREE - All Ages
Join Wavelength and MusicOntario for an evening of performances, presentations, a panel discussion and town hall about the future of live music spaces in Ontario,
In late 2023, Wavelength released “Reimagining Music Venues,” a study exploring new models of conservation and innovation for Ontario’s live music spaces. Challenges in both the pre- and post-pandemic live music sector can feel insurmountable with venue closures, growing monopolies, inflation, the cost of touring, and more. This session explores proactive findings in the study to inform collective action toward stronger live music ecosystems across Ontario.
Join us for a brief overview of the study, an interactive panel discussion around challenges and opportunities, live performances, and networking. Music spaces are vital cultural and economic contributors to any thriving city worth living in, period. It’s time to reframe the narrative and rebuild a policy framework for live music to thrive across genres, cultures, and neighbourhoods – and do it sustainably and equitably for artists, fans, and venues alike!
