MusicOntario Showcase - October 16, 2025

Paris, FR

MusicOntario and Ontario Creates are returning to MaMA Music & Convention in Paris for the 4 th year to host a delegation of Ontario artists and music companies! In 2025, we will be presenting an Ontario reception and showcase, as well as organizing supporting business activities at the Canadian Embassy in Paris with targeted French music professionals.

Set annually in Paris, MaMA Music & Convention is one of France’s leading conferences, hosting 7,000 delegates from 52 countries for panels, talks, mixers, and showcases in the trendy Pigalle and Montmartre neighbourhoods during the 2025 edition. It’s a bustling and well-curated event that is beneficial for francophone and English-speaking delegates alike.

Ontario is home to Canada’s second largest francophone population of more than 700, 000 people who represent a vast musical and cultural landscape uniquely their own. In cultivating early relationships with music festivals and conferences like MaMA in France, we hope to help our Ontario artists and businesses build access to the French market over the next three to five years, with a special focus on Ontario’s francophone community of music creatives.

With a population of 13.5 million (of which more than 600,000 are French-speaking), Ontario is a land mass bigger than France and Spain combined and is the vibrant epicentre of Canada’s English-language music industry.

Ontario is as diverse as it is vast, and is home to anglophone, francophone, indigenous communities alike. Its capital city, Toronto, has been called the most multicultural city in the world, where more than 100 languages and dialects are spoken – our province truly is a rich tapestry of cultures and traditions.

Superstars like Drake, The Weeknd, Alanis Morissette, Daniel Caesar, and Broken Social Scene all have roots in Ontario – our world-class talent is undeniable. Ontario’s music sector generates a whopping $1.2 billion annually, and we are proud to foster emerging talent along every step of their careers, and as they take the global stage.

Omega Mighty - 14:30 - 14:55

Canadian island-pop artist OMEGA MIGHTY has an eclectic sound, switching from Jamaican patois, sultry vocals and an energetic rap flow with confidence. She carefully blends elements of Pop and R&B with Reggae/Dancehall, incorporating her Caribbean heritage. In 2023, OMEGA MIGHTY released her sophomore EP « Notorious & Noble » featuring lead single « Rush Dem », earning her a JUNO nomination for Reggae Recording of the Year. OMEGA MIGHTY was selected to write the City of Brampton's new anthem « Celebrate You », was selected as one of CBC Music's Searchlight Top 10 Artists, and was named one of Toronto Life's 25 Rising Stars. Most recently, OMEGA MIGHTY performed at SXSW 2025 in Austin, Texas and Tallin Music Week in Tallin, Estonia. OMEGA MIGHTY is expected to showcase at MaMA Music and Convention in France and WOMEX in Finland in October 2025, in anticipation of her debut album « REGENESIS » this fall.

TRP.P - 15:10 - 15:35

TRP.P (pronounced "TRIP-ee") is a Toronto duo, breaking barriers in the Hip-Hop/R&B scene. Composed of Truss (producer, singer/songwriter) and Phoenix Pagliacci (singer/songwriter), the dynamic duo met in 2015 and have been collaborating in music and life ever since. In 2017, they released their self-titled debut EP « TRP.P », followed with their sophomore release « 2TRP.P » in 2019. Their modern twist on 80's/90's inspired R&B gives way to powerful lyrics, which often champion queer love, justice and their communities. TRP.P released « Mirror Soul » in June of 2022, expanding their audience. They continue to release music as TRP.P and under their solo projects.

Desiree Dorion - 15:50 - 16:15

The JUNO Nominee, DESIREE DORION, has had multiple songs chart in the top 100 on the Canadian country music charts (TRAX), along with numerous songs reaching the top spot on the Indigenous Music Countdown. She released her seventh studio album, "Remember Your Name," on September 20th, 2024, which peaked at #9 on iTunes Canada in its first week of release and has amassed over 150,000 global streams to date. It also peaked in the top 10 on the national Earshot charts across all genres and reached the #3 position on the national Earshot folk/roots/blues charts. DESIREE DORION is a proud member of the Opaskwayak Cree Nation.

Menno Versteeg - 16:30 - 17:00

MENNO VERSTEEG (the leader of Hollerado and a 1/4 of supergroup Anyway Gang) just released « Why We Run », out via Royal Mountain Records. With literally thousands of shows in over twenty countries, ten Top 10 singles, a Gold Record and a #1 Alternative Single, as highlights on his musical resume, VERSTEEG has seen and done his fair share. Yet, « Why We Run » marks the first time he's releasing his music under his own name. Over the course of « Why We Run »'s 12 songs, VERSTEEG is at his lyrical best and most musically diverse. With the soft indie folk of debut single « Fish Out Of Water » featuring Doug Paisley, the alt-country rambunctiousness of « Change A Tire » or the contemplative album closer « A Light On In You », VERSTEEG channels his wide musical knowledge and pulls from every corner of his impressive career. The overarching result is a record that is an artist at his most honest, most vulnerable and most exciting, twenty years in.
