MUSICONTARIO NOW OPEN FOR MEMBERSHIP
MusicOntario to help musicians and music industry professionals across Ontario
TORONTO, ON –: Today, the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) is pleased to announce that MusicOntario, its new provincial division, is now open for membership.
MusicOntario will operate as a member-based, not-for-profit association, delivering programs and services for artists and industry professionals across the province. Programs will focus on providing industry education, professional development, resources, information, and support, with the goal of helping individuals reach their professional, creative, and personal goals.
CIMA created its MusicOntario division in direct response to industry demand. In 2011, CIMA’s Board of Directors approved a new Strategic Plan which, in part, directed the creation of an Ontario music industry association.
“We are excited to be formally launching MusicOntario to serve the business and creative needs of the province’s music industry,” says Stuart Johnston, President of CIMA. “We look forward to delivering our services, and to link our business and artist communities across this province together.”
Membership is now open to those involved in any and all facets of the music industry, including artists, bands, labels, publishers, studios, agents, managers, venues, promoters, producers, songwriters, retailers, and more. While programs and events will be open to all, members will receive preferred rates on admission, as well as a wide array of other membership benefits.
MusicOntario has also launched its new website, listing upcoming events, details on its programs, membership benefits, industry news, resources, and more. The site is now live at www.music-ontario.ca.
“Over the past year, we’ve been working hard to create programs, services, and benefits for our members, and I’m extremely pleased that MusicOntario is now, officially, open for business,” says Scott Honsberger, Executive Director of MusicOntario. “I’m looking forward to growing our membership, and invite artists and industry across Ontario to be a part of this exciting new organization.”
