FEATURETTE: Dark Electro-Pop Trio

Toronto-based trio FEATURETTE is a late-night snack of gritty earporn with hooks you can sink your teeth into. Fronted by powerhouse Lexie Jay (vocals) and backed by bandmates Marc Koecher (keys/synth/guitar) and Jon Fedorsen (drums/synths), the genre-bending, alternative electronic project has been steadily building a cult following of misfits and audiophiles—each one indoctrinated into their church of dark, addictive beats.

Their sound, self-described as “gritty earporn with hooks you can sink your teeth into,” fuses the pulse of underground electronic music with anthemic pop production, crafting something both cinematic and dangerous.

A Breakout Year

2025 has been a massive year for the dark electro-pop trio. Kicking things off fresh from a nationwide tour, FEATURETTE dropped their third studio album, Panic Pills, on January 31. The album has since amassed over 500,000 streams across major platforms and YouTube.

Their dreamscape sci-fi music video for the single “Next Life” went on to win both Best pop video and the Grand Prizes from Canadian Independent Music Video Award. Now, they’re not stopping anytime soon this year with an electrifying new visual for “Interrogation.”

More on Interrogation

The pulsing, seductive second-last track on Panic Pills, “Interrogation”, was described by Daily Entertainment World as:

“A song that asks questions it never intends to answer, pulling the listener into a feverish exchange between truth and temptation. Equal parts seductive and unsettling, ‘Interrogation’ proves FEATURETTE’s knack for crafting pop music that doesn’t just sound good — it feels dangerous.”

More on Panic Pills

Since debuting in 2016, FEATURETTE’s journey has been marked by critical acclaim and festival buzz. The trio has shared stages with Milky Chance, X Ambassadors, and more, cementing their reputation as a magnetic and unforgettable live act.

PANIC PILLS is a midnight hit with hooks sharp enough to draw blood. After four years of lead singer Lexie Jay fruitlessly searching for a pharmaceutical antidote to her anxiety disorder, this collection of songs was the Rx she wrote to fix herself. Exploring themes of power, obsession, victim mentality, visceral desire and rage, FEATURETTE is taking a path less traveled, but all the more exhilarating. With carnal beats and a heavy melodic undercurrent, Panic Pills drags you down a dark and winding path, each song encapsulating a demon Lexie had been battling within themselves for years.

“Swallowing these pills freed me - I happily gutted myself and started again. Fuck being the victim, I’m having way more fun out loud.” - Lexie Jay

The focus track Golden Hour is the crown jewel of Panic Pills, Golden Hour lives in those timeless pinnacle moments that flash before yours eyes like when one has a near death experience. Drawn from lived experience, the track starts slowly, luxuriating on the ‘golden hour’ moments you cling to before impact, slowly descending into a faster pace that rips you into reality, going a hundred miles per hour and flooded with adrenaline. This record features collaborations with notable writers Ryan Guldemond from Mother Mother, who the band has supported directly for liveshows, as well as Tavish Crowe, who plays and writes with Carly Rae Jepsen.
