MusicOntario Communities Connect is all about bridging the gaps between Ontario’s vibrant music markets! During our Community Development Research Project (CDRP), we asked musicians, artists and industry professionals across the province what types of support and education they hoped to have access to regionally (you can read the full results at www.music-ontario.ca). With that in mind, we’ve tailored this session to cover the topics Mississauga survey respondents want to learn about – in this case, funding! Ontario has one of the most comprehensive cultural funding systems in the world, and if you’re in the business of creating music, you could be an eligible recipient for one or many streams of that support. Of course, artists, entrepreneurs and managers/labels must do extensive research to understand each funding body, their parameters and requirements before qualifying for said financial support. Business and marketing plans, budgets and large applications written with appropriate grant “lingo” sound very daunting to compile, but they are incredible necessary and attainable when tackled properly. Do not despair! MusicOntario and Metalworks are hosting two of Canada’s largest funding bodies, FACTOR and OMDC, along with an independent grantwriter and an artist who has successfully applied for and received support, to simplify and demystify the processes. We’ll field your pressing questions and provide tips and guidance to help you build a successful application.   PANELISTS
