Ontario Creates, MusicOntario, and APCM are hosting an Ontario reception and showcase during MaMA Music & Convention 2023, featuring two local artists to highlight both the French and English language talent who call our province home. We invite artists to apply for consideration by August 7, 2023.
Set annually in Paris, MaMA Music & Convention is one of France’s leading conferences, hosting 7,000 delegates from 52 countries for panels, talks, mixers, and showcases in the trendy Pigalle and Montmartre neighbourhoods during the 2023 edition.
Showcasing opportunities are very limited this year, but we encourage Ontario-based artists performing original music in either official language, and who have a strong international export strategy and business goals for the French market to apply for consideration to perform.
Ontario is home to Canada’s second largest francophone population of more than 700,000 people who represent a vast musical and cultural landscape uniquely their own. In cultivating early relationships with music festivals and conferences like MaMA in France, we hope to help our Ontario artists and businesses build access to the French market over the next three to five years, with a special focus on Ontario’s francophone community of music creatives. We welcome all genres to apply.
Artist eligibility criteria for showcases (2 slots available): - Must be a resident of Ontario, Canada. - Must perform in French, English, or both languages. - Must be accompanied by a professional representative who is able to make decisions and take meetings on artist’s behalf. - Must have released an album or an EP within the last 24 months preceding the performance or have an upcoming album or EP within the next 3 months. - The artist must already have begun their career development in France or demonstrate potential to be commercialized in that target market.
