South By Southwest (SXSW) Music Conference and Festival takes place every March alongside SXSW Film and Interactive. Now in its 29th year, SXSW Music has been one of the largest annual events worldwide for over a quarter of a century. In 2014, over 2,300 acts showcased, nearly 600 of which were international acts, representing 57 different countries. These artists had the opportunity to perform for almost 28,000 industry attendees, including over 2,800 media representatives and thousands of fans. A total of 27,991 participants from 82 countries attended the Music Conference in 2014, continuing a tradition of growing in culture and quantity.
Television crews, filmmakers, radio programmers, music magazine journalists, newspaper writers, podcasters and hundreds of independent bloggers will be in Austin reporting on every facet of the festival and laying claim to having heard the next big act before anyone else, creating opportunities for media exposure through hundreds of national and international media outlets.
From unsigned bands to indie and major label headliners, SXSW continues to be the premier music event that sets the tone and direction of the industry by introducing the hottest new talent, and showcasing the new directions and sounds of the most important musical acts in the world, while providing an ideal environment for bands to learn from and meet the music industry professionals that can help them further their careers.
