Canada's Music Incubator & MusicOntario Present 2-Day Artist Entrepreneur Bootcamp in OTTAWA
Canada’s Music Incubator (CMI, the not-for-profit arm of Coalition Music), teams up with MusicOntario, to present their two-day “Artist Entrepreneur Bootcamp” in Ottawa on May 29 and 30th.
The two-day professional development workshop, being held at 25One Community (251 Bank St.) in Ottawa, is a condensed version of CMI’s 10-week Artist Entrepreneur program, which provides incubation, professional development and mentorship to new and emerging artists looking to not only survive but thrive in today’s music industry.
CMI and Coalition Music surveys and interviews all participating artists registered for the “Artist Entrepreneur Bootcamp” prior to the camp in order to gain a greater understanding of each artist’s needs. CMI and Coalition Music will identify key areas of professional development that these artists can benefit from and customize the camp accordingly, giving the challenges of each artist participant significant attention.
Topics covered in all “Artist Entrepreneur Bootcamps” include: establishing and running your business, identifying revenue streams and strategies for securing funding, touring, building your team, music licensing and synch placements and more.
MusicOntario and Canada's Music Incubator are inviting all participants in the Bootcamp to join us for a showcase mixer at the Atomic Rooster (303 Bank Street) on May 28th 6-9PM. Participants are invited to perform 2 songs each, in order to get to know each other and the facilitators, and showcase their live performance.
To be considered for this program all applicants must complete and send back this questionnaire with their contact info to Rosalyn Dennett at Music Ontario by Tuesday, May 19th at 5:00 PM. (incomplete questionnaires will not be considered)
All successful applicants must be existing MusicOntario Members, or become MusicOntario members by May 23rd, 2015.
Facilitators of the “Artist Entrepreneur Bootcamp” will be:
- Eric Lawrence, Artist Manager, Coalition Music Co-Founder
- Vel Omazic, Executive Director, Canada’s Music Incubator
- Liam Killeen, Artist Manager (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker, These Kids Wear Crowns, and Greig Nori)
The Bell Media Prize
One bootcamp artist will be selected by Music Ontario and CMI to receive the Bell Media Prize. This all expenses paid prize includes entrance to CMI’s 10-week Artist Entrepreneur program in Toronto (Aug 11/15 through Oct 16/15), as well as travel to and from Toronto and living accommodation during the program.
CMI and Coalition music wants to give each artist who participates in this bootcamp significant individual attention. For this reason, the two-day Bootcamp will be limited to 15 participants. If you are in a band, we would like only 1 band member (the one who does most of the day-to-day business) to attend the workshop.
